Combining dance and film to raise climate change awareness.
Dance for Climate is a creative project that blends the expressive power of dance with the visual storytelling of film to raise awareness of climate change. By using movement, Dance for Climate seeks to inspire emotional engagement and action, highlighting the climate issues in an innovative and accessible way. The project will emphasize the interconnectedness of all living things and encourages people to appreciate the beauty of the world and take steps towards a more sustainable future.
MISSION
Dance for Climate is focused on uniting dance, film, and music to artistically capture the unfolding story and evolving impact of climate change. Our mission is to merge art and environmental activism, creating an emotionally resonant film that educates, inspires action, and sparks meaningful dialogue about climate preservation. Dance for Climate is driven by the power of human connection, the ever-evolving relationship between people and nature, and a commitment to collaborate with artists across multiple mediums. Through this work, Dance for Climate aims to inform, move, and challenge audiences—pushing the boundaries of traditional dance performance to engage communities in reimagining our role in protecting the planet.

The Process
Beginning in the Spring of 2026, we’ll begin a six-year journey to create a feature-length dance film.
Each year, a new choreographer will create a unique segment of the choreography, set to an original original score and performed by dancers from across the U.S. The film will also include interviews with environmental scientists, activists, and everyday people who directly experience the effects of climate change.
Set in a site-specific location each year, the film will not only capture dance and music, but also the visible changes in the environment over time.
